Good Hard Work
I just read an excellent post about the benefits of hard work. Check out the article. Also hop over to Seeking the Old Paths and read her take on balancing work (Post entitled Considering Chores) ...to be a slave driver or an anything goes mom? What to choose?
It seems that God would like for us to learn to set a good example for our little ones by working with them...not lording over them. There are times, however, that a mom just has to say "I'm sorry I can't help you right now but these things just have to be done" (lawn mowing etc...).
I have strong beliefs about hard work. I've seen the fruit of it in children's lives. It seems that for a young man (teen) to work very hard physically is like therapy. Calms the emotions, etc..
Remember the old sayings "Keeping oneself busy is the best remedy for worry" and "Idle hands are the devil's workshop", "There's nothing like good hard work to sweeten one's disposition". This goes for children as well as for adults.
Keep busy...but don't forget to sit at His feet.

We got rid of my cell phone when it died and finally got rid of hubby's phone not too much later. It hasn't been that bad; we take the walkie talkies if we need them (to stores for example). It may seem nerdy, but having the extra $600 a year in our pockets feels mighty good :) And thanks for the great post about work.
